Three Wexford students excel at the CPA awards for academic excellence
Wexford was the most successful county at this year’s awards for academic excellence by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA Ireland).
The awards mark the accomplishments of students in the CPA Ireland examinations and there were three Wexford students who performed best in specific papers.
Russell Waldron, from Enniscorthy was the winner of the Liam Donnelly Medal, awarded to the student for who is first place worldwide in the final CPA Ireland examinations. This is the second consecutive year a Wexford student has taken home this prestigious award following the success of Caroline Siggins last year.
Russell is currently working for the Environment Protection Agency based in Johnstown, Wexford.
Meanwhile Candace Kinsella, from Gorey, was the best performer in Audit practice and Assurance Services and Ronan O’ Mahony, from Foulksmills, was top for Corporate reporting.
Speaking at the conferring of new CPA accountants Eamonn Siggins, a native of Courtown Harbour living in Tara Hill, who is Chief Executive of CPA Ireland said; ‘I am delighted to say that we continue to see full employment among newly conferred CPAs, reflecting the strong reputation among employers for the CPA qual- ification. The demand for accountants reflects the continued growth in the economy and has reached new heights with employers telling us they are now finding it increasingly difficult to fill vacant positions’.
