MUSICAL SOCIETY READY TO ROCK!

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

EXCITEMENT is well and truly building as the first rehearsals took place last week for Enniscorthy Musical Society’s latest production ‘All Shook Up’ which takes place from April 3 to 7.

The rockin’ musical is based on the music of the legendary Elvis Presley.

It takes place in 1955, somewhere in middle America, where one girl’s dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock & roll.

The musical society are really looking forward to sinking their teeth into the material and a fantastic cast has been announced, consisting of Ashley Doran as Natalie, Gary Stevens as Chad, John Young as Jim, Julie Kinsella as Sylvia, Ellen O’Gorman as Lorraine, Niamh Bolger as Miss Sandra, John Duignan as Mayor Matilda, Cameron Cloke in the role of Dean and Sean O’Brien as Sheriff Earl.

Director Imelda McDonagh, Musical Director Kevin Kennedy and Choreographer Ann Marie Cooney are still looking for someone to play the role of Dennis and volunteers are also being sought to take part in the chorus. Anyone interested in getting involved is invited to come along to chorus rehearsals at Coláiste Bríde next Monday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Alternatively you can call 0879219832.
