BALLINDAGG­IN STORYHOUSE

Great entertainm­ent was enjoyed at Ballindagg­in Storyhouse last Thursday evening where there was a good attendance despite a very foggy night travelling. Sympathy was extended to Marie Doyle on the death of her uncle Nicholas Roche, also to Dan Lawlor on the death of his sister Cecilia Gahan and to Mary Flood on the death of her husband William. Prayerful good wishes was extended to all who are unwell at present.

LATE JIM COSGRAVE

Jim Cosgrave, Aylesbury, England and formerly Askinvilla­r, Kiltealy passed away on December 25 in England. Deepest sympathy is extended to his sons Noel and Jim and also to his sisters and extended family. Jim, who was of an advanced age had been ill for a time prior to his passing. He emigrated to England in the 1950s where he met his late wife Phillis and they married and raised their family. He never forgot his home place and returned to his native Kiltealy almost every year to visit his sisters and friends. He was laid to rest in Kiltealy Cemetery on Friday last following funeral Mass in Kiltealy Church. May he rest in peace.

DORAN’S BRIDGE CROSSING

There was a large attendance at a meeting in Kiltealy Community Hall last week to express their concern about Doran’s Bridge crossing outside Kiltealy village which is an accident blackspot. The meeting was attended by members of Wexford County Council and Gardaí. The danger of the crossing was also featured on Morning Mix on south Radio on Tuesday and again on Wednesday last when Noel Armstrong spoke of the urgency to have the hazardous junction dealt with. Over 2,000 petitions have been forwarded to the council. There will be another meeting tonight in Kiltealy Hall to form a small committee to express the concerns of the community further regarding this road safety issue.

DUFFRY SOCIAL CLUB

The Duffry Social Club will reopen after the Christmas holidays tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. All welcome for cards, bingo, chat and refreshmen­ts.

DUFFRY ROVERS LOTTO

The numbers drawn last week were 1, 10, 16 and 31. No jackpot winner. One player matched three Trish Rackard, Aughnaclap­pa, who won €150. Sellers prizes went to Dan Doyle, Andy Doyle, Eddie Doyle and Denis Doyle.

The draw tonight Tuesday, January 16, is in Jordan’s, Ballindagg­in and the jackpot is €5,500.
