Davy is motoring with new Skoda!

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

WHILE he may be well-known for his firey temper at the side of the pitch, it was all smiles from Wexford Manager Davy Fitzgerald at Donohoe’s Skoda in Enniscorthy recently as he collected the keys to a brand new Skoda Octavia as part of a sponsorship deal with Wexford GAA.

The Wexford manager has plenty of reason to smile given the yellowbellies wonderful start to life in Division 1A in the Allianz Hurling League, however, on this occasion he was just happy to be collecting his new car.

Clocking up a lot of mileage travelling between the GAA Centre of Excellence in Ferns and his native Co Clare, comfort was a big factor, so the Octavia Style was the natural choice.

‘We’re heavily involved in supporting the GAA in Wexford, so we’re delighted to be able to provide Davy with the new Octavia,’ said Sales Executive Aidan O’Leary. ‘We did this last year as well and he clocked up 70,000 miles on the car through all the travelling. We got great publicity out of it though and the car featured in things like ‘Living with Lucy’ on RTE2. Davy is very good in terms of helping us out and he’s done a few bits a pieces with us here in the showroom, so we’re de- lighted to be able to help him and Wexford GAA.’ With such a wonderful start to this year’s hurling campaign, everyone at Donohoe’s Skoda will be hoping that Davy will return to the Quarry Park showroom with a similar smile, carrying the Liam McCarthy cup on board this summer!

‘ The boot is certainly big enough for the Liam McCarthy anyway,’ Aidan laughed. ‘We wish the team all the best!’
