Kathleen stamps mark on birthday!

-

IT WAS another very cold night at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track on Thursday, but one woman that it did not bother was birthday girl Kathleen Stamp.

She enjoyed an early birthday present when recording a nice double, with her well-known Glenbrien prefix to the fore in races two and five.

Glenbrien Glint was led up by the eventual runner-up Tycoon Rita before Glenbrien moved up to challenge down the back and got the better of the battle from there to get home by half a length.

Glenbrien Bolt then was a much easier winner as he came home a clearcut five and a half lengths to the good for his fifth career win. It was announced shortly afterwards that Kathleen would be celebrating her birthday on Friday.

The first final of the year was run in race four, and this A6 was one-way traffic after the lids went up. The red-hot favourite, Reckatuneheff, simply was too good for the opposition, racing to the winning line six lengths to the good to make it two wins from three starts for his joint owners.

The first race saw Gorey man James Browne enjoy a nice win with his new charge Wagga Story who had led from start to finish, and more improvement may well be to follow in the coming weeks.

There was also good Co. Wexford winners up in Shelbourne Park on Thursday night, with the ‘Shanks’ Whelan (Piercestown)-owned Piercestown Lord scoring in the coursing bred sprint semi-final.

He will be joined by the Gordon Murray-owned Katch Up Snoppy who just failed to get up in his semi. Both will line up in this week’s final.

The Vincent Morris (Rosslare Harbour)-owned Focus Minnie got out well in the fourth race, a sprint also, and held on well to score in 19.26.
