Manfield House
CELEBRATING its 40th year in business this year Marlfield House is one of Ireland’s most celebrated country house hotels. Set on 36 acres of gardens it was originally opened by Mary and Ray Bowe in 1978 who bought the property from the Earls of Courtown. A Turner style conservatory was added gaining national acclaim and has just being renovated. And in 1989 six sumptuous state rooms were added. The very popular Duck Restaurant, set in renovated courtyard buildings opened in 2015 and last year ‘Duck Lodge’ a luxurious contemporary cottage with two bedrooms was renovated.
Margaret and Laura took over management 8 years ago, however Mary and Ray still enjoy meeting their guests daily. Marlfield is a long time member of Ireland’s Blue Book and the prestigious international Relais et Chateaux group. Couples can take the beautiful house and gardens exclusively for the wedding celebration for up to 145 guests. Adding to the many awards already adorning the walls last year Marlfield won three South East Radio Hospitality Awards, Ireland’s Country House Gold Medal Award and National Hospitality Best Boutique Hotel Award. There is a Wedding Showcase on Sunday, February 18 by invitation, pre registration is required on the website, www.marlfieldhouse.com . Cinema offers, early bird menus and lunch specials are favourites in The Duck open while Afternoon Tea, Sunday lunch and Dinner in the Conservatory provide the perfect opportunities for celebrations big and small.
