SCHOOL ENROLMENTS
Scoil Mhuire, Davidstown is now accepting enrolments for September 2018. Enrolment forms can be collected at the school office or you can call the office (053 9234745 between 9: 45 – 11: 15 or 12: 30 1: 30) and a form can be posted out to you. You may also apply via our website davidstownps.ie. Please return the completed enrolment forms by March 16.
Courtnacuddy National School are now accepting applications for enrolment for September 2018. Application forms are available from the school during school hours or you can contact us by telephone or email and we will gladly post you an enrolment pack courtnacuddyns@gmail.com or 053 9244284. All application forms must be returned to the school by Friday, March 2.
RACE NIGHT
Davidstown PS parents’ association will host a fundraising race night on Saturday night, March 10, in the Millennium Bar, Davidstown. Members of the parents’ association/Organising Committee are currently busy organising the event and are selling ‘horses’, race sponsorship and advertisement space. Full details and information available from the school or any member of the parents’ association.
As this is our last big fundraiser of the year all support would be greatly appreciated. The funds raised will go to towards the ‘School Painting Fund’. A great night’s fun guaranteed.
COMMUNITY GAMES
Bree-Davidstown Community Games 2018 season got off to a great start when the under-10 Draughts team became Co Champions on Saturday night last. The team of Riona Kehoe, Oisin Harte, Fergal Doyle, Matthew Jordan and Sacha McCauley finished undefeated of the six teams taking part in the finals which were held in Bree Community Centre. They won four of their matches as well as finishing on level terms in a fifth. This was the first time in sixteen years of the under-10 County Draughts competition that a local team won this event. Best wishes to the team with subs Luke Jordan and Roise Fraser in the upcoming intercounty rounds.
The local Community Games was represented by three other teams in the County Finals. The under-14 team of Katie Doyle, Cillian Dempsey, Travis McCauley, Odhran Kehoe and Luke Jordan were runners-up in their competition and won the silver medals. The under-12 team of Nathan Doyle, Cathal Ennis, Conn Fraser, George Murphy, Charlie Kehoe and Clodagh Kehoe and the B under-10 team of Roise Fraser, Rosanne McCauley, Eva Dempsey, Muireann Kehoe and Sarah Jordan all played well but were not among the placings. Bree-Davidstown Coaches and Managers for the Draughts are Jim Doyle and Martin Humphrey.
Anyone interested in under-eight-16 Art, under-10-16 Model Making, under-10/under-12 Handwriting, under-14 Quiz, under-nine-15 Gymnastics, under-eight-16 Swimming and under-12/under-16 Talent (Drama, singing, dancing, music) should contact area sec Clare at 087 4151350 asap with entries and for further infomation or look at Aldi Community Games website (May 2018) for details and rules of all national finals taking place in Limerick in May 2018.

Congratulations to David Dunne and all his teammates on the Wexford Hurling Team for their win against Waterford.
The last lotto draw took place on January 29. The numbers were 5, 19, 24 and 27. Matchthree winners were Bridget Egan, Scoby, Tom Martin, Scoby, Michelle Andrews, Boolabawn and Padder Roche, Dranagh. Dan Delaney, Rathfylane won the sellers prize. Next Weeks jackpot was €10,200.
DINNER DANCE
The Davidstown-Courtnacuddy Ladies’ Football and camogie club are celebrating their 10th Anniversary with a dinner dance on Saturday, February 17, in the Riverside Park Hotel at 7 p.m. Tickets are available from all club members.
MACRA NEWS
Best wishes to this Capers team, which includes Bill and Tadhg Harrington, taking part in the all-Ireland Finals in Mallow, Co Cork on Saturday night next, February 3. The Bree Macra Show, representing Wexford and Leinster, will be on stage first of six shows competing from Ca- van, Tipperary and Cork (3) on the night.
The Bree Macra Debating team, due to take part in Athboy against Portlaoise Macra this weekend, got a bye into the next round. Their next debate takes place on February 10.
