Medical attention required at accident

-

AS traffic began to circulate around town once again in the aftermath of the storm, one motorist ended up in a spot of bother and required medical treatment after crashing into the road signs at the Old Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

The driver, a 70 year-old local man, was heading into town when he apparently suffered some kind of black out and ended up colliding with the signposts for Dublin, spinning his car 180 degrees leaving it facing the wrong way.

Thankfully, members of Slaney Search & Rescue happened to be at the scene and were able to provide assistance until an ambulance arrived. The man received some treatment at the scene and was then transported to Wexford General Hospital as a precaution.

He was later discharged, however, and is expected to make a full recovery.

Gardaí have said that while the council have done fantastic work in clearing the roads around town, they are still quite dangerous in places.

They have also asked for motorists to be aware of pedestrians walking on the road as footpaths may not be clear for some time.
