Cosmic Rebels come to the aid of Jack & Jill
ORGANISERS of the Cosmic Rebels Con were delighted to present the proceeds from a lot of stellar work to a great cause in the form of the Jack & Jill Foundation. The money was raised at the first Cosmic Rebels Con which took place in November and was a real celebration of geek culture with everything from talks with comic book artists to a screening of a new Predator movie and some wonderful Cosplay.
A total of €930 was raised with a special raffle and auction at the con which generated great interest. The money raised will go towards providing a month and a half of care for young Bella Rose from Ballymurn who has endured substantial health difficulties and a number of complex procedures since she was born in June of 2016.
A real little fighter, Bella was present with her mum Bekki, who was extremely grateful to organisers Ed Doyle and Brian Thomas for their donation.
Such was the success of the first Cosmic Rebels Con that it is set to invade the Riverside Park Hotel once again on April 21 and 22 in the newly revamped Hilton Edwards Suite. Ed and Brian are confident that the second Con will be much bigger and better and are hopeful of welcoming even more people through the doors over the two days.
Once again, admission will be free, but people can donate to the Jack & Jill Foundation at the door and there will be another auction for the cause. Over the course of the weekend, there will be talks and presentations on all things sci-fi, fantasy and horror, plus a special Cosplay Competition and another visit from the 501st Legion Official Star Wars Stormtroopers along with Heroes United and Ghostbusters.
