Kiltealt teenager (19) was driving while disqualified

-

DRIVING while disqualified at Ballycarney on February 13 just gone resulted in a court appearance for Colin Mullins (19) of Curraduff, Kiltealy.

Garda Niall Brophy gave evidence that he stopped the defendant, at which point he made a full admission that he had been disqualified on December 18 of last year for no insurance and dangerous driving. Garda Brophy arrested the defendant and brought him to Enniscorthy Garda Station, where he said he was very compliant.

Solicitor John O’Donovan said that his client’s father was deceased and he was a full time carer for his mother who had been involved in a serious road traffic collision.

He said that on the night in question, Mullins had asked a friend to collect his car, which was in storage, with him, but he was let down. He said that this had been a ‘sobering experience’ for his client.

Mr O’Donovan then noted that a Probation Report had been requested in relation to other matters and asked that this case be factored in and put back until February 26. While Judge Ryan was somewhat reluctant, as she would not be sitting when the case returned, she agreed to adjourn the case.
