GAA CLUB NOTES
Due to the adverse weather conditions, there was no games played last weekend. For this weekend, the hurling league starts. Our first team are in Division Two again and are fixed to play Monageer/Boolavogue this Saturday at home at 4.30pm
. They are also fixed to play round 3 of the Leinster League against Cellbridge at 2pm on Saturday also so one of these games will be changed. The Junior B hurlers play on Sunday morning against Shamrocks at 11am in Division Six in Enniscorthy, having been promoted last year.
The minor footballers play away on Sunday morning at 11am against Ballyhogue in Bree, There has been a change to the U17 hurling group, they now will play Shelmaliers, HWH Bunclody and Davidstown/Courtnacuddy together and Rathgarogue/Cushinstown who will include two players from Taghmon/Camross. So its a tough ask for the boys this year but no doubt they are up to the task.
The U15s who last year (U14s) won the Division 1 Shield Title will play in Division 1A again this year. Their group will consist of the following teams: Oulart The Ballagh, Askamore, Craanford, Monageer/Boolavogue, Ferns St. Aidans, Davidstown/Courtnacuddy and Duffry Rovers.
This week 25 years ago the Bord na nOg held a quiz in O’Sheas lounge. The first prize went to Tom Bolgers team from Wexford. Second after a tie break round was Diarmuid O’Hanlons team and third was Eugene McLoughlins team. A special word of thanks was extended to Seanie o’Shea, Denis Corrigan, Simon Corrigan, Michael O’Brien and Mick Grey.
We would love to know if there is any old memorabilia in the parish, old jerseys, old hurling balls, old medals etc as we would love to photograph these before they are lost to the ages. If so please email dexleary@gmail.com.
