Eyesore of abandoned van at Vinegar Hill

-

WHILE not too many tourists or visitors will have been braving the elements at Vinegar Hill given the weather over the past couple of weeks, as the thaw set in, those who made it as far as the car park at the historical landmark were greeted by the site of a broken up and abandoned van.

The Ford Transit has been sitting there since Storm Emma unleashed major drifts of snow and is now creating an eyesore. The windscreen of the van is smashed and the doors are hanging wide open to the elements. It’s been left in pretty bad shape all over and it appears that the registration plates have been removed.

While rumours have circulated locally that the van had been involved in some type of crime or may even have been stolen, Enniscorthy Gardaí had not received any reports to that effect and said that they would be sending members out to take a look around the vehicle. With most of the snow now having disappeared, people will be eager for the van to be removed as soon as possible or risk putting people off what is regarded as one of the jewels in the crown of Enniscorthy tourism.
