Pleaded guilty to drug possession

JESSIE BYRNE, with an address at 40 Old Forest, Bunclody had no solicitor with him as he pleaded guilty at Gorey District Court to a drugs possession charge.

Prosecution followed after Garda Sharon O’Hanlon noticed a smell of cannabis in the grounds of HWH/Bunclody GAA club last April.

Byrne handed over a bag containing €20 worth of the drug in herbal form to the garda.

The judge was told that Byrne was not in work.

He agreed to produce a donation of €50 to the Vincent de Paul by May 3.

On that basis he was offered the benefit of the Probation Act.
