Colourful characters a plenty at St Marys NS

-

IT was a crazy and colourful day at St Mary’s National School as the students celebrated World Book Day in style. On the day, the pupils were encouraged to use their imaginations and dress up as characters from their favourite books which they had read during the year.

What resulted was a school full of crazy characters from The Mad Hatter and futuristic robots, to rugged rugby players, beautiful ballerinas, wicked wolves and marvellous magicians. Plenty of imagination was shown by the pupils and their parents and it made for an interesting day in school, as you’d never know who (or what!) you’d end up sat beside!

All of the fun wasn’t just for the students either. The teachers played their part and also put great effort into their costumes. A great day was had by all and Acting Principal Gillian Wilson thanked the pupils and their parents for entering into the spirit of things with some wonderful costumes.

The whole idea behind the day was to foster a greater love of reading among the children and they were all certainly excited to dress up as characters from their favourite books.
