COACHES WIN THE EASTER EGG CUP!

-

STUDENTS from St Patrick’s School lined out against the schools soccer coaches at the Astro Active Centre last week to contest the final of the Easter Egg Cup. The students were on a 14 game unbeaten streak going into the game and were feeling confident ahead of their showdown.

The coaches were taking no prisoners, however, and at half time St Patrick’s were 4-3 down with a hat-trick for student Dylan Larkin and two goals for Larry Shannon and one each for Jake O’Rourke and Ryan Dwyer for the coaches. The second half brought more excitement with St Patrick’s forging ahead to a 7-4 lead, Ned Connors scoring all four. Johnny Whelan was sent off for the coaches shortly after, giving them a sense of urgency and seeing them go ahead 10-7 with hat-tricks for Craig Dwyer and Daithi O’Brien.

Three goals from student Holly Levingston in the last ten minutes levelled things up at the death, however a free kick in the last minute from Jamie Fox for the coaches saw them claim the Easter Egg Cup and bragging rights. Co-ordinator Cllr John O’Rourke thanked everyone involved along with Wexford County Council and FAI Development Officer William Doyle.
