Bunclody motorist to get his driving licence back

-

WILLIAM CONNORS from Bunclody appeared before Judge John Cheatle at the District Court to appeal for his licence to be restored. Connors had previously been banned off the road for a period of four years from March 18, 2015, on charges of no insurance.

Solicitor Lana Doherty told the court that her client had paid the fine at the time and had now obtained work and would require his licence.

When asked if he had contacted the insurance company and notified them of his convictions, Connors said that he had but explained that he was only on a provisional licence at the time of his ban and couldn’t get a quote. He said that the insurance company said that there was a good chance he’d get a quote with a full licence.

‘It’s a bit of a catch twenty-two situation then,’ said Judge Cheatle. ‘He can’t get insurance without a full licecnce, but he needs the application granted in order to get a full licence.’

Upon hearing that there was no objections from gardaí, Judge Cheatle agreed to restore the licence from March 17.
