Ball rolling on Ballindaggin park
WHILE the heavy machinery had already moved in and carried out some initial work, Minister Paul Kehoe was present to officially turn the sod on the new Ballindaggin Community Park. A lot of tireless work has gone into the project on the part of the Ballindaggin Development Group over the past 18 months and they are now delighted to be at the stage where they are seeing their plans come to fruition.
‘We’ve had great support on the project from a number of organisations,’ said group secretary Joe Walsh. ‘We had great support from Wexford County Council and under the town and village renewal scheme and the sports capital grants. We’re looking at the end of June as an official opening date.’
The new park will consist of a soccer/GAA pitch, a walking track, a playground and a special picnic areas and will be a real Godsend for young families in the local area. There’s great excitement in relation to the project in the area and Minister Kehoe congratulated the locals on all their hard work and dedi- cation in getting it to this point.
Thankfully, the recent snow hasn’t had too much of an impact on the park or slowed things down and the developers are now ready to take the next step.
‘It didn’t have too much of an impact no,’ said Joe. ‘ They were kind of at a stage where they had done most of what they could do up to this point anyway. The next step now will be ordering the bits for the playground and that will happen over the next few weeks.’
