MONAGEER GROTTO

Following on from the success of our composting bins, we are installing a ‘wormery’ at the Grotto. Mrs Betty Kehoe, master composting trainer will provide training on Saturday, March 24, next starting at 10 a.m.

Betty will give us the tools to build, prepare, care for, and harvest from the wormery. She will also give a short refresher talk on how to achieve success with compost bins. The whole course will last about four hours.

Anyone interested in attending please contact us on the Monageer Grotto Facebook page or by phone; 087 9683535 as we need to give numbers to Betty before the date.

CONFIRMATI­ON

This sacrament will be celebrated here on Sunday, April 22, at 11 a.m. with parish priest Fr Brian Broaders VF Rathnure as Chief Celebrant. We recently started our Parish Preparatio­n Programme, which is called ‘You Shall Be My Witnesses’. After a meeting of parents to explain the programme the first Session of the programme with six leaders from the parish took place in the school last Tuesday.

The 31 candidates were divided into three groups with two leaders in charge of each group. It is reported to have been very successful. Three more similar sessions will take place on the next three Tuesdays.

The service of Light will be celebrated on the Thursday before Confirmati­on and will be accompanie­d by a Practice for the Confirmati­on Ceremony, both in our local church.

FIRST COMMUNION

This Parish Preparatio­n Programme began on Sunday, January 28, with the first of our four special Masses for the 24 young parishione­rs, who are to receive their First Communion on Saturday, May 26, next at 11 a.m. and their parents.

They are following a special programme called ‘ Do This in Memory’, focusing on the Mass and explaining its meaning and central place in our Christian lives. The class teacher is Karen Murphy and some parishione­rs will help out during the special Masses in our local church.

The other three special Masses will be celebrated on three Sundays;, Sunday, February 25, March 18 and April 29 at our 10 a.m. Mass.
