THE MONDAY CLUB

The Monday Club meets at St Mary’s Centre, Ryland Road, Bunclody on Mondays. Come and join us and brighten up your Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Throughout the year there will be informatio­n sharing, entertainm­ent, arts and crafts, guest speakers and many more topics. Entrance Fee is €4 which includes tea or coffee and Light Lunch. This Club will suit the 60+ age group. Transport not provided.

WHIST

BUNCLODY ICA

Bunclody ICA Guild held their March meeting on March 12 Ten members were in attendance. Catherine O’Neill, president opened they meeting with a prayer and the singing of ‘My Land’.

Sympathy was extended to Helen O’Brien on the death of her brother and to Mary Stamp on the death of her aunt.

Audriel Byrne was welcomed back following her recent illness.

After the usual business was conducted, a lovely tea was served by hostesses Mary Kehoe and Mary Cullen.

The competitio­n winner was Nan Kelly and Maureen Behan won the raffle.

The next meeting is the AGM and will take place on Monday, April 9, New members welcome. It was agreed to invite Federation president Mary Fitzgerald to oversee the AGM Bunclody Market.

Bunclody Market is open for business every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in St Aidan’s Hall, Bunclody. Tea and coffee served beside the comfort and warmth of our lovely stove. Get your fresh baking, organic vegetables, jams, chutneys, plants, crafts, clothes and lots more. WALKING TRACK

The Walking Track at HalfWay-House/Bunclody GAA Club Grounds at Church Road, Bunclody will be lit from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday for the next few months. Everyone is welcome to use the facility but please remember that for health and safety reasons, dogs, even on a lead, are not allowed. This is a wonderful facility open to the community and provided by our local GAA Club so your support for the club’s various fundraiser­s throughout the year will be appreciate­d to help defray costs involved in providing and maintainin­g the track. On Thursday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Irish Heart Foundation Mobile Health Unit will visit Bunclody Library. Free Blood Pressure Checks and Heart Health informatio­n with Irish Heart Foundation Mobile Unit. On the day two nurses will be available on the Irish Heart Foundation mobile health unit to provide Free Blood Pressure Checks and Heart Health informatio­n. The one to one advice offered by the nurse is a vital part of this check. Contact Bunclody Library for further details.

Thursday, April 5, at 7 p.m. there will be A Lecture with Dermot Mulligan from Carlow County Museum. Dermot will give a lecture on St Willibrord, Patron Saint of Luxembourg and his County Carlow Connection. St Willibrord, was trained and ordained in county Carlow in the seventh century at the most important Anglo-Saxon ecclesiast­ical settlement in Ireland, Rath Melsigi (near Milford). He is one of Europe’s most important saints, embarked on a mission to the continent from Carlow in AD 690 and has enormous impact on the Netherland­s, Germany and Luxembourg. St Willibrord’s own hand writing is the oldest datable signature of an English person, written on a book from county Carlow. Regular Adult Events Toddler Story Time
