JD North’s – This classy new bar on the block has it all

JD NORTH’S bar and nightclub in New Ross has become a shining light on the nightlife scene in the county since it opened its doors in July 2017, offering great drinks in an old world bar setting downstairs and a place for people who like a dance to take to the dancefloor on weekend nights upstairs.

Owned by Wellington­bridge man John Quigley, the bar is an inviting place to visit at any time of the year, with comfortabl­e seating, entertainm­ent during the week and live sports on the television­s.

The friendly staff serve up an excellent pint and there is a great range of speciality whiskies and gins to enjoy.

The wide beer selection includes Wexford’s own Yellow Belly beer, and there is an ever changing cocktail menu to surprise your taste buds, as well as some fine wine choices.

The sophistica­ted atmosphere downstairs has proven a hit with people from outlying areas who are flocking increasing­ly into New Ross due to the growing nightlife scene in the town - as well as with local residents.

Dj Dave plays great hits from the 80s, 90s, along with timeless classics in Level 1 on the ground floor.

The pub was launched by Wexford hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald in November and supporting and celebratin­g Wexford is at the heart of what John and manager Marie Purcell are all about at the venue.

Local art is featured in the hallway leading to the nightclub Level 2 and impressive beer garden upstairs, along with a display of Derek Roche’s boxing strip and a jersey worn by soccer star Greg Bolger.

One of the region’s top Djs, Adrian Kelly (Aka DJ Houseworx) plays at Level 2 every Saturday night and on bank holiday Sunday nights the dancefloor is also hopping.

Surrounded by fantastic images of rock icons from Bruce Springstee­n to Kurt Cobain, Level 2 has a youthful, edgy and fun energy to it; a place where you can while away a night listening to great tunes, including old school classics, funky grooves, house and tech music, in a safe, fun environmen­t. Cocktails are served at the bar, along with a great range of beers and drinks. JD North’s is an ideal venue for your family occasion, in- cluding birthday and retirement parties, Christenin­gs and more.

Its staff of nine barmen and women are always up for the craic, making you feel right at home in this warm, spacious bar, which always has something going on.

JD North’s is open daily from 4.30 p.m. and Marie and John plan to open the bar earlier in the summer when the World Cup is on and the buzz in the town is at its best. There is poker on Tuesday nights and pool tournament­s on Friday nights in the bar. while there are plans to start darts tournament­s at the pub soon also.
