Willie will help you to find love at the Strawberry Fair!
AS the old song says ‘a good love these days is hard to find’. If you’re looking for love, then this year’s Strawberry Fair, Street Rhythms and Roots Festival could be just the ticket for you!
Internationally renowned matchmaker Willie Daly of Lisdoonvarna Fame will be present and is confident that are ‘plenty of lonely bachelors across County Wexford just waiting to meet the right woman’ and his job is to make sure it happens.
Willie took over the matchmaking business from his father, who succeeded his father before him in a tradition that goes back more than 150 years in the Daly family. When you see Willie strolling around, he is usually carrying what he calls his ‘lucky book’ which contains hundreds of profiles of both men and women and he says that he is confident of matching up any number of people who avail of his services on his first visit to Enniscorthy. ‘Love is there for everyone,’ he says. ‘It’s just waiting to be found. When it happens, it’s a lovely feeling.’
Willie’s visit is in-keeping with this year’s festival theme of ‘love’ and quite a few people are said to have found love at the Strawberry Fair over the years.
A special matchmaking dance is planned for The Athenaeum on Sunday afternoon June 3, and Willie, along with his ‘lucky book’ will be in attendance. He will also visit a number of pubs in Enniscorthy over the course of the bank holiday weekend and, naturally, will be taking more than a passing interest in this year’s Strawberry Princesses who he will interview on stage in the Market Square, along with Liam Sharkey on Saturday night, June 2.
