Cosmic Rebels
The countdown is finally over and this year’s Cosmic Rebels Con will take over the main ballroom at The Riverside Park Hotel this Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The event will celebrate all aspects of geek culture and will have all manner of comic books and collectibles available. There will also be talks from comic book artists and writers along with Matthew Dale who appeared in Star Wars Rogue One and Doctor Who. As well as this there will be a huge cosplay competition, an auction for Jack & Jill and visits from the Star Wars 501st Legion and Ghostbusters Ireland. 5km walk
Beneath My Angels Wings, an organisation supporting families bereaved of their children, are hosting a 5km family walk in Enniscorthy Sports Hub on May 6 at 11 a.m. Organisers are hoping to raise €3500 to purchase a cuddle cot for Wexford General Hospital’s maternity unit and all money raised will go towards this. The event is will take place in partnership with Enniscorthy Municipal District Council and all support is greatly appreciated.
GDPR Course
Enniscorthy Chamber are to offer a course centring on General Data Protection Regulation ( GDPR) at their HQ in Portsmouth House this Thursday, April 19 from 9.30 a. m. to 4.30 p. m. Instructors will be DCM Training and they aim to provide an introduction to the new EU data protection regulations. The cost is € 125 with a 10% discount for chamber members. Workshop
A ‘Building Self Confidence’ workshop will take place on April 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in LINK Training Services Enniscorthy, opposite Treacy’s Hotel. Lecture
Róisín Egan of the HSE and Caroline Veale and Mary Murray from AIMS will deliver a special talk on early childhood care for children with disabilities at Enniscorthy Library this Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. The talk will provide information on AIM (Access and Inclusion Model). It’s programme of supports is designed to enable parents of children with disabilities to access the Early Childhood Care and Education Programme in mainstream preschool settings, alongside their peers. Foster Care
A special workshop to inform and support foster carers on the impact of change, grief and loss in the context of foster care will get underway at The Riverside Park Hotel on May 9th. The programme will take place over three workshops, May 9, 22 and September 18, and will provide an overview of change, grief and loss, validate and de-mystify experiences that many will have already encountered or may encounter in the future and focus on self-care, resilience and coping strategies, all in the context of foster care. A members meeting will take place on the first Tuesday of each month at the Riverside Hotel at 2.30 p. m.

Concert
Enniscorthy Choral Society will be looking forward to Summer time as they host their annual ‘ Summer Concert’ at The Presentation Centre this Saturday, April 21, at 8 p. m. Always a great occasion, the evening will see a performance from the Choral Society, under the direction of Donagh Wilde, along with a host of special guests. Doors will open from 7.15 p. m. for a wine reception and tickets are priced at € 12. All support is greatly appreciated and a great night is guaranteed.
Community Watch
Moran Park, Bellefield and St Aidan’s Community Watch are continuing on patrols around the area. The service is said to be a great help to local people and they are looking to recruit one or two volunteers to help out. Anyone, who would be willing to help is asked to contact chairman Bernard O’Leary at 085 1088163.
Photo Exhibition
Students of Digital Photography and Media at VTOS Enniscorthy are excited to present an exhibition of their work at VTOS, Gonzaga House, Wafer Street. An eclectic and colourful collection of work it will officially be launched this Thursday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All are welcome to come along and take a look at some of these wonderful pieces and to have a look around the facilities enjoyed by VTOS students at Gonzaga House. Admission is free of charge and all support on the day is greatly appreciated.
Laugh for Hope
The annual Laugh For Hope & Hospice tour is set to visit pubs around the Enniscorthy District over the coming weeks. Always a hit, the event has been going since 2012 and has raised € 42,000 for these wonderful causes. Promising music and laughter and much more, the event will see participation from Newbawn/ Adamstown Variety Group, Camross Boys and Marshalstown Drama Group. The mini- tour is now halfway through having gained stellar reviews at the Millennium Bar in Davidstown and Mernagh’s in Oylegate. This Saturday, April 21, the show will arrive at the IFA Centre in Enniscorthy and the final show will take place in the Horse & Hound in Ballinaboola on April 28. The show gets underway at 9.30 p. m. each night with donations accepted on the door and a raffle each night. All support is greatly appreciated.
Pilgrimage

Collection
A Church Gate Collection for Our Lady of Fatima Special School in Wexford will take place at churches right across the Enniscorthy District on this Saturday and Sunday.
The Parent’s Association are asking people to donate as much as they can
as they aim to improve facilities at the school which caters for children with all manner of learning disabilities.
Volunteers Sought
Touched by Suicide are seeking volunteers to help in their shop on Castle Hill. If you can volunteer, even for an hour a day, it would be of great help. Anyone interested in lending a hand is asked to call into the shop.
Enniscorthy Poetry Day
Poets and poetry lovers are set to gather at Enniscorthy Library on April 26 to celebrate Poetry Day Ireland.
Those participating will read from some of their favourite poems and it promises to be a great evening.

Exhibition
The Presentation Centre will host its third annual Open Call Art Exhibition from April 13 until June 4. This year’s exhibition sees over 100 pieces on display and was officially launched on Friday night by Cllr John O’Rourke.
Some wonderful pieces are on display and people are encouraged to drop in and see for themselves the level of artistic talent that exists locally.

Golf Classic
Enniscorthy & District Chamber will host its annual Golf Classic on April 27 at Enniscorthy Golf Club. The cost of entry is € 200 for a team of four which includes golf, supper at the evening prize giving event and plenty of prizes. Bookings for the classic must be made via admin@ enniscorthychamber.ie or by calling 053 9232006 as tee times have to be allocated by the Chamber team.
