A LOT OF LAUGHS FOR TWO GREAT CAUSES!

-

THE Millennium Bar in Davidstown was absolutely packed to capacity recently as members of the local community came out in their droves to support the annual Laugh for Hope & Hospice on the first of its four nights at venues across the county.

What started out as a small fundraising event six years has grown into a real favourite on the social calendar for many and has become a fantastic source of income for the Hope Cancer Support Centre and Wexford Hospice Homecare. In fact, organisers are rapidly closing in on the €50,000 mark in money raised, having already banked €42,000 for the charities up to this year. They were hopeful that they might just crack that €50,000 mark this year and if the size of the crowds at the Millennium Bar were anything to go by, they will not be far off.

The show features performances from Newbawn/Adamstown Variety Group, Camross Boys and Marshalstown Drama group each of whom devised and delivered a series of hilarious sketches that have achieved infamy over the years. This year’s show proved no different and the laughter rippling from the pub could be heard all around as the show got going, the ‘How to Learn Chinese’ sketch proving a particular hit.

The show went from the Milennium Bar to Mernagh’s in Oylegate this weekend and next Saturday, April 21, it hits the IFA Centre in Enniscorthy before finishing the run at The Horse & Hound in Ballinaboola on April 28. The organisers wish to thank everyone who has come along and contributed so far and all support is greatly appreciated.
