Half-Way-House/Bunclody GAA Club members will be calling to houses over the coming weeks selling Model County Developmen­t Draw tickets. Tickets cost €50 fully paid up for the three draws with top prize of a car each month. This is the main fundraiser for the club each year which goes to run the GAA club teams at both adult and underage, and maintain the wonderful pitches, club rooms, indoor arena and walking track. Your support will be very much appreciate­d.

BOOK LAUNCH – FOR YOUR DIARY

‘Blackstair­s Mountain, Spring and Surroundin­gs’ by Myles Kavanagh will be launched on Wednesday, May 9, at 8 p.m. in Killanne Hall, Killanne, Enniscorth­y, Co. Wexford by Bishop Denis Brennan, Bishop of Ferns. A limited number of books have been printed and will be on sale at the event in Killanne. BUNCLODY TIDY TOWNS

An Taisce annual Spring Clean taking place in Bunclody on Saturday, April 21, and throughout the entire month of April. We are looking for volunteers to help with the litter picks from different areas in Bunclody. Bags, gloves, tabards and some litter pickers available from Tidy Towns. Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. – Dyslexia talk – Annette Ormond will give a talk on helping your child with reading difficulti­es. Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty which makes it hard for some people to learn to read, write and spell correctly. Dyslexia affect approximat­ely 10% of the population. Booking essential.

Saturday, April 21, at 2.30 p.m. – Spring into storytime – Storytime and arts and crafts for four to eight years. Come listen to stories and songs and make a fun craft afterwards with Esther.

Thursday, April 26, at 7 p.m. – A Guide to Early Speech and Language Developmen­t with Kate Reddy. This talk with Kate Reddy, a speech and language therapist with the HSE, will look at strategies to support communicat­ion in young children and give advice regarding delayed communicat­ion. Saturday, April 28, at 2.30 p.m. – May customs with Michael Fortune and Aileen Lambert. Spring is in the air and summer is coming so preparatio­ns are made for the upcoming 2018 Wexford May Bush Festival. Join Michael and Aileen, who will discuss May customs with particular reference to County Wexford. Booking essential. Regular Adult Events Toddler Story Time: Join us on Friday mornings at 11 a.m. Come along with your toddler or preschoole­r for stories, rhymes and songs.

The Monday Club: The Monday Club meets at St Mary’s Centre, Ryland Road, Bunclody on Mondays. Come and join us and brighten up your Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Throughout the year there will be informatio­n sharing, entertainm­ent, arts and crafts, guest speakers and many more topics. Entrance Fee is €4 which includes tea or coffee and Light Lunch. This Club will suit the 60+ age group. Transport not provided.

Bunclody ICA Guild held their annual general meeting on Monday, April 9, in the Pastoral Centre. Mary Fitzgerald, Wexford Federation, was in attendance. The following officers were elected to serve for the coming year: president Bridget Murphy, secre- tary Catherine O’Neill, treasurer Lily Power, PRO Mary Cullen and Contest secretary Marcella Dunne.

Sympathy was extended to Teresa Murphy on the death of her sister; Kitty Hayes Mahon on the death of her husband and to Mary Stamp on the death of her aunt. A minute’s silence was observed.

Four members will attend a Garden Party in An Gríanán on June 29 the April Federation Meeting will take place in the Ferrycarri­g Hotel on the 30th.

The competitio­n winner was Catherine O’Neill and the raffle winners were Marcella Dunne and Lily Power.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, May 14, and the guest speaker will be Marie Davis, make-up artist. New members welcome.

CARRIGDUFF RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATIO­N

Carrigduff residents’ associatio­n held a very successful table quiz and social in the Moss House recently. Sincere thanks to the Ryan brothers and local businesses for their support who together with locals helped the associatio­n to celebrate their 50th Anniversar­y. Carrigduff residents’ associatio­n are always open to welcoming new members.
