Pedro Calvo was victorious on Saturday at the Gorey Parkrun, covering 5k in 18:08.

Liam Breen was 17th in 23:09. On the women’s side, Claire Gibbons was fourth home in 24:14.

At the St. Patrick’s Special School 5k at Kilcannon on Sunday, Paul Gibbons led S.B.R. home with a third place finish in 17:25.

Tomás Kavanagh was seventh in 18:49, Tomás Breen ninth in 19:15, Shane Gregan 13th in 20:36, Michael Bennett 20th in 21:32, Steven Whelan 21st in 21:53, Pat Crean 38th in 26:00, Patrick Curley 41st in 26:13, and Geraldine Murphy 46th in 28:50.

At the Great Ireland Run in the Phoenix Park, Christine Hill ran a very good 48:41 with Olive Brownrigg in 61:06.

The S.B.R. spring league came to a conclusion on Wednesday, with a 5k race taking place around a lap of ‘The Stump’ in Ferns.

We had a good group running, with chilly temperatures and a strong headwind on the main road greeting the athletes, but this didn’t deter some great running.

Paul Lynch continued his winning streak, leading from the start and coming home a clear winner, while Christine Hill was first lady home and in the process she posted a fine new P.B. for the distance. Well done to everyone else who togged out.
