New start-up fund for recent graduates

-

RECENT graduates from Wexford are being urged to apply for the Government’s €500,000 Competitive Start fund.

The Fund, which is being operated by Enterprise Ireland, will close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24.

An overall total of €500,000 is available for graduates who wish to accelerate their start-up companies.

Sums of up to €50,000 in equity funding will be paid to up to 10 successful candidates.

Speaking about the fund Minister Paul Kehoe said: ‘Graduates working across manufacturing and internationally traded services sectors can apply. This includes sub-sectors such as cloud computing, software-as-a-service, enterprise software, cleantech, gaming, mobile, apps and LifeSciences.

‘I would strongly encourage budding entrepreneurs from Wexford working in these areas to check if they’re eligible and consider applying.

‘ The Fund is part of our strategy to increase the number and quality of High Potential Start-Up companies that have the potential to employ more than 10 people and achieve €1 million in export sales within three years. ‘Applications from final year students, and graduates with a third-level qualification within the last three years, are invited to apply.’

He said there is a poll of talent and ambitious entrepreneurs in Wexford who are making valuable contributions to the economy through their start-ups.’ In addition to written applications, companies will be asked to prepare an online video pitch.
