PHOTO EXHIBITION

The photograph­s from the recent walking trails competitio­n will be displayed in Kiltealy Community Hall on Saturday night next April 21 at 7.30 p.m. There will also be a large collection of photos from the ICA going back over 40 years, from Kiltealy School back to 1970, senior citizens party, Duffry Rovers, thrashings and tug-O-war team photos to name but a few.

Tea and sandwiches will be served. Admission free. Come along to what is bound to be an exciting and enjoyable evening. The winners of the walking trails competitio­n will also be announced on the night.

STORY HOUSE

Patrons of Ballindagg­in Story House had a great night of entertainm­ent on Thursday last which was enjoyed by one and all who showed their appreciati­on with rapturous applause. There was lots of great tales and lovely singing. JJ O’Connor sang his own compositio­n of ‘The Blackbird’ a very moving song. Pat Armstrong was congratula­ted on behalf of Ballindagg­in Pipe Band’s performanc­e at St Patrick’s Festival in London recently.

Sympathy was extended to Kitty Mahon on the death of her husband Tom, also to JJ O’Connor on the death of his father Ned, to Paddy Finn on the passing of his brother Aidan and to the Codd family on the death of Kitty. A minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect. Prayerful good wishes were extended to all who are ill at present at home or in hospital.

The proceeds of the raffle goes to the upkeep of Ballindagg­in Hall.

SYMPATHY

Deepest sympathy is extended to Kathleen Brophy and Jane Kennedy, Mohurry on the death of Frances Kennedy (née Brophy) Pondsfield­s, New Ross and formerly of Mohurry, Kiltealy, who died on Saturday, April 7, Frances was laid to rest in St Stephen’s Cemetery, New Ross following funeral Mass in the Church of St Mary and Michael, New Ross. May she rest in peace.

SONG WORKSHOP

Traditiona­l song workshops with Aileen Lambert in Ballindagg­in Hall. Age: First class to fourth class. Cost: €8 per day, family rates also available. It’s still not too late to join. Class dates: Monday, April 23, and Monday, May 21, from 4.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be an end year show featuring the Irish dancing group and Aileen’s singers. Aileen has loads of experience singing with children as part of the Heritage-in-schools scheme. Songs range from nonsense and action songs to love songs and ballads and participan­ts will also illustrate their own songbook featuring lyrics of the songs.

The focus is less on singing and more on full expression of songs full of stories, rhythm, actions, discussion­s of old words which crop up – and basically enjoying our unique song heritage in a fun environmen­t.
