SOCCER

The Youths’ team were due to play New Ross Town on Wednesday, April 11, but received a walkover. This leaves them one victory away from a league title and if they can keep focus, could crown a very successful season for Phil Christophi’s charges.

The previous Sunday, the ladies were at home, taking on Stoney Rovers, the league lead- ers and deservedly winning by 2-0. Lorraine Fortune scored both goals, one from a penalty. At the other end of the pitch, Kelly McLaughlin starred, saving a penalty and keeping the visitors scoreless. This was a great result and means that our ladies’ team could gain promotion this year.

Despite a great goal from Liam Walsh, the men’s ‘B’ team were beaten at home by Rosslare Port.

The ‘A’ team were out against Killenagh and thanks to goals from James Sweeney, Brendan Burke and Cormac Finn, lead 3-0 at the break. They eased off the throttle a little in the second half and while not scoring themselves, they never conceeded any goals and collected the maximum points thanks to the three first half goals.
