Bunclody Home Care Cancer annual walk will take place on Sunday, May 6, at 2 p.m. Meet at Market Square at 1.45 p.m. This is a leisurely walk which will take approximat­ely one hour. Sponsorshi­p cards are available from any committee member or come along on the day and give a donation. There will be refreshmen­ts afterwards.

FESTIVAL OF CHOIRS

A festival of choirs will take place in Gorey from Friday, May 11, to Sunday, May 13, All proceeds to Wexford Hospice Homecare. There will be 20 choirs taking part in four different venues over the three days. Look up Online Festival of Choirs Gorey and see if you are interested in coming along to any of the performanc­es.

No ticket required for any event. Donations at the door in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare.

VTOS BUNCLODY

The staff and Students of VTOS Bunclody would like to invite you to their Multicultu­ral open day, which will take place in the VTOS Adult Education Centre, Ryland Road, Bunclody on Wednesday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year, the open day coincides with Europe Day, the annual celebratio­n of peace and unity in Europe.

Understand­ing Inter-culturalis­m is one of the modules that the students undertake during their time at VTOS Bunclody, studying both cultural diversity in Ireland and cultures elsewhere in the world. This is achieved through artwork, which will be on view on the day and through reading and written projects. Students will be present in the kitchen where samples of food from other cultures will be on offer to visitors.

In addition to this, there will be a photo exhibition consisting of work produced by the Digital Photograph­y students during the year as well as a short film created by those undertakin­g the Digital Media module.

Come and join us to celebrate Europe Day and discuss the courses on offer for the 2018/2019 year.

Saturday, May 19, at 11 a.m. New creative writing group with Cat Hogan. Best-selling Author Cat will facilitate this meeting of the Drop of Ink Creative writing group. Cat is from Wexford and her first award-nominated novel ‘ They all fall down’ was published in 2016. She has facilitate­d workshops and given talks at festivals.

Saturday, May 19 – Bricks4Kid­s – 2.30 p.m. – suitable for seven to 12 years. Bricks4Kid­z workshops teach the principles of Science, Technology, Engineerin­g and Maths (STEM) through mechanical Lego technic kits to boys and girls aged 7-12 years. BOOK LAUNCH

‘Blackstair­s Mountain, Spring and Surroundin­gs’ by Myles Kavanagh will be launched on Wednesday, May 9, at 8 p.m. in Killanne Hall by Bishop Denis Brennan.

A limited number of books have been printed and will be on sale at the event in Killanne. Any remaining books may be available locally or at local outlets afterwards.
