Bree United Soccer Club is hosting its annual ‘Night at the Dogs’ in Enniscorth­y Dog Racing Track on Thursday, May 17. Your support would be appreciate­d.

TRACTOR RUN

The annual Galbally Tractor Run in aid of Galbally parish funds will take place on Sunday, May 27

TEMPLE STREET FUNDRAISER

A fundraiser in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital will take place in the Talbot Hotel on Tuesday, May 15, at 9.30 p.m. Dance the night away to local artists Jimmy Hogan, Leslie Dunne and Blue Lace as well as the Moynihan Bros and others. Tickets cost €10 and are available on the door.

ACTIVE RETIRED

The May social of Bree ARI will be held on Wednesday the 16th. An outing to Lafcadio Gardens has been planned for May 23 Deposits will be taken at the social. Bowling will continue every other Wednesday. The final of the Patsy Dixon Cup takes place on May 9 For more informatio­n ring 086 0747823.

TIDY TOWNS

There will be a meeting of Bree Tidy Towns Group on Monday evening, May 14, at 8 p.m. in the community centre. We plan to discuss the Bree Tidy Towns entry for the Tidy Towns 2018 competitio­n at the meeting. All are welcome to attend and new members always welcome.

TOWNS CUP RUGBY

Congratula­tions to Richard Dunne, Arthur Dunne, Daniel Pim and Hughie O’Neill, who were part of the Enniscorth­y Rugby Club team who won the Provincial Towns Cup competitio­n recently.

SHANE MURPHY

Congratula­tions to Shane Murphy Galbally, who was one of the coaches of the Enniscorth­y CBS under-17 Soccer team who won the all-Ireland title last week. They beat St Joseph’s of Galway 1-0 in the final.

TRAIL WORLD CHAMPINSHI­PS

Best wishes to Paddy O’Leary, Galbally, who is part of the Irish team taking part in the Trail World Champinshi­ps on Saturday, next May 12 in Castellón de la Plana, Spain. The course is 85km long and athletes will have a maximum of 15 hours to complete the event.

BREE ICA

Bree ICA Guild Meeting will be held in Bree Community Center on Tuesday night, May 15, at 8 p.m. Guest speaker will be Lorna Swan at 9 p.m. Lorna, a wellness advocate with doTERRA essential oils is giving a talk on essential oils. The oils are pure therapeuti­c grade and at this class you will learn about the oils and how to use these natural products for you and your family. Please feel free to come along at 9 p.m. and bring a friend. Admission free.

SPRING CLEAN

The annual Spring Clean took place recently. This year is the 20th Anniversar­y of An Taisce’s National Spring Clean Initiative. A lot of great work was done gathering litter around the community. Bree Tidy Towns would like to extend their thanks and appreciati­on to all who volunteere­d their time and effort to help with this work. Your support is greatly appreciate­d.

ROWING CLUB

Get Going and Get Rowing with Edermine Ferry Rowing Club. Regular training for the 2018 season has resumed and they look forward to welcoming back current members and seeing lots of new faces too. COMMUNITY GAMES

Congratula­tions to the Bree-Davidstown Community Games Debating team from Davidstown NS which won the Co Debating Final last Thursday night. Members of the team are Michael Roche, Shane Jordan, Gavin O’Connor and David O’Leary. They defeated Crossabeg NS opposing the motion that ‘Vending machines should be banned in schools’. This team has now qualified for the national finals in Limerick at the end of this month. Team manager is Clare Doyle.

Matty Murphy, Kereight will also represent Bree-Davidstown in Limerick in the under-eight National Art Finals as well as Oisin Harte (under-10 Art), Roisa Fraser and Cillian Swan (under-eight Swimming), Ruairi Swan (under-10 Swimming) and Eva Bailey (under-12 Swimming). Best wishes to all involved.

The local Bree, Davidstown and Cloughbawn Community Games Sports takes place in Ballyhogue GAA Grounds on Thursday, May 24.

BREE YOUTH CLUB

All members are encouraged to bring friends and guests to club nights over the coming weeks to join in the activities on the night. The FDYS are holding a fun day on May 12 at 1 p.m. in Bree Community Centre. Open to all members of youth clubs in the county. On the day there will be lots of activities, music and food for everyone who attends.
