Final call for entries in Wexford Rose

THE deadline is imminent for the 2018 Wexford Rose Selection which will be staged in the Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey on Friday, May 25.

Entries will be accepted online at www.roseoftral­ee.ie/ apply until this Friday, May 18.

The outgoing Rose of Tralee Dr. Jennifer Byrne is encouragin­g County Wexford women aged between 18 and 27 to enter the event before it’s too late.

‘Just go for it. Taking part in my own selection in Offaly last year was without question the best decision of my life so far. I can guarantee anyone who enters the Rose of Tralee that they will make incredible friends and have an amazing experience.’

Jennifer was one of 502 people who took part in qualifying selections in Ireland in 2017, while another 500 women entered selections in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Britain, Europe and Middle East.

This year’s Wexford Rose will travel to Tralee in August to enjoy everything that Ireland’s flagship family festival has to offer – parades, gala functions, entertainm­ent, televised Rose selection nights, a Rose Tour and much more.

Roses from Ireland and Irish communitie­s around the globe will take part in the week-long festival before the 2018 Rose of Tralee is crowned in the Festival Dome live on RTÉ on Tuesday 21st August.

As the lead sponsor of the internatio­nal festival, Tipperary Crystal will present, the 2018 Rose of Tralee with a complete collection of Tipperary Crystal fine jewellery, a range of high quality products from their giftware and homeware collection­s. The winner will wear the fabulous tiara featuring a Rose motif and adorned in glistening crystals, and will receive the exquisitel­y crafted Crystal Perpetual Trophy.

The next Rose of Tralee will drive away from Tralee in a brand new KIA from McElligott­s Tralee, a World Travel Prize valued at €25,000 and a week-long holiday in Kerry from Kerry County Council.

Every return visit to Tralee during the 2018 Rose of Tralee’s reign will be spent in comfort at the magnificen­t 4-star Rose Hotel, the home to the Rose of Tralee Internatio­nal Festival.

The 2018 Rose of Tralee Internatio­nal Festival will run from Friday 17th to Tuesday 21st August.
