Glorious sunshine and classic bikes
HISTORY WAS created in Wells House, Gorey, recently when it played host to the county’s first ever dedicated classic bike show.
The event was organised in-house but the facility’s Events Manager, Maria Walsh, told this newspaper that three Wexford bike enthusiasts, Jimmy Kielthy, Austin O’Sullivan and Brian Kent, were invaluable in terms of helping organise the show and ensuring it was a success.
Over 70 bikes were on display and 250 visitors arrived on motorcycles while a further 250 cars converged on the estate to view the machinery being exhibited.
From trikes and cruisers to classic goldwings and sportbikes the event had something of interest for all discerning bike fans including a fantastic replica of a Suzuki RG400 as raced by the legendary Barry Sheene.
Speaking to this newspaper about the show Ms Walsh said there will definitely be a repeat event next year.
‘It was a great success and we received very positive feedback from those who were there,’ she said.
‘When we decided to do a bike show we thought the classic theme would be a good one to begin with and the reports we got back have been very good,’ she added.
The show attracted people from all over the county and the fact it was held in ideal weather conditions made it all the more enjoyable for those in attendance.
There was also a raffle on the day in aid of the Make-A-Wish Foundation which is the main charity supported by Wells House.
