SNIP-IT BARBERSHOP

NOMINATION: WEXFORD FAMILY BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD

-

NOMINATED IN the Family Business Award, the team at Snip It Barber Shop is looking forward to a great night at the awards ceremony this Friday.

Owned and run by Mick O’Brien, Snip It has operated from its premises on Peter’s Street for the past 34 years. It currently employs five people.

Mick, a gifted barber, who has trained in London, Dublin, Liverpool and in Wexford’s own Scissors Empire over the years, has since passed the trade onto his sons Alan and Sean, both of whom have trained abroad in the UK and Australia.

Over the decades, Mick has seen the trends come and go but real style, he says, never goes out of fashion: ‘Every trend has a life span. It comes and goes, and then gets reinvented later on. But real style is always in demand. At the moment, the style from the 1940s and 50s is a big influence.’

One of the big draws to Snip It is the business’s appointment system, which is done online. By logging on to www.snipitbarbershop.nearcut.com, clients can book their time, the chosen service and the barber. This system runs alongside the drop-in service, making for a streamlined experience.

Of the awards, Mick said: ‘I didn’t realise how big an event it was until I was filling in the form and reading about it. Alan and Sean have been great motivation and I’ve enjoyed the process so far. We were delighted to be shortlisted because customer service is at the heart of everything we do.’
