The Sky Blues close in on title

North End United moved four points clear at the top of the Premier Division with a comfortabl­e win over Moyne Rangers on Sunday.

The Sky Blues showed no ill effects from their FAI Junior Cup winning celebratio­ns and wrapped up a convincing 4-0 victory with goals from Kyle Dempsey, Jason Murphy and Adam Beary (two).

A win over Corach Ramblers on Wednesday evening will see John Godkin’s men crowned league champions.

After promotion to the top flight last season, Tombrack’s time in the Premier Division was brought to an end as they lost out 4-0 to New Ross Celtic in their relegation play-off at Shamrock Rovers’ grounds on Sunday.

Eoin Rhodes helped himself to a hat-trick for the Barrowside­rs, while Rory O’Connor grabbed their other goal.

Ross Celtic now face Forth Celtic in the promotion/ relegation play-off in Ferrycarri­g Park next Sunday.

Wexford Albion bounced back from the disappoint­ment of their Billy Browne Cup final defeat to Rosslare Rangers ‘B’ the previous week to overwhelm Rathnure 5-0 in the Division 3A runner-up play-off in Adamstown on Sunday.

Elliot Malone grabbed a hat-trick for the Wexford town outfit, while Eddie Pitman and Pierce Dooley added a goal apiece.
