Daniel delivers with Mayo win

-

BREAFFY HOUSE in Co. Mayo was host to some spectacular games of handball over the May bank holiday weekend.

The Wexford contingent arrived with players from the age of seven up to the age of 70 and over.

Adam Walsh and Daniel Kavanagh were our two Under-19 players. Adam was narrowly beaten in his match, while Daniel made his way to the final and met Ben Dowling from Louth, earning a well-deserved victory.

Our only Under-17 player, Cian Kehoe, played extremely well. Our six Under-15 players - Josh Kavanagh, Mark Doyle, Conor Murphy, Ben Keeling, Joe Devereux and Davy Doyle - played some exceptional handball all weekend.

Josh progressed to the semi-finals but was beaten by Mikey Kelly from Galway. Meanwhile, Mark met Cahir Munroe from Tyrone in the other semi-final and made it through to the final but lost out to Mikey who played some outstanding handball.

Jodie Keeling kept the flag flying in the girls’ Un- der-13 but was unfortunately beaten in the semi-finals.

Our three Under-13 boys - Bobby Doyle, Conor Horan and Jack Murphy - also played some great handball all weekend.

Our other Wexford players who played at the nationals were Ellie Murphy, Megan Murphy, Conor Doyle, Joshua Roche, Charlie Roche, Kitty Roche, Conor Keeling, Paudie Devereux, John Roche, Catherine Roche, Laurence Dunne, Alan Armstrong, Pat Leacy, Tommy Armstrong, Michael Armstrong and Jimmy Dunne. A great weekend was had by all.
