Artists’ collaboration with Wexford Hospital
Wexford Campus School of Art and Design at IT Carlow is continuing its collaboration with Wexford General Hospital in an exhibition entitled ‘Magical Geographies’ which was created by 1st year honours degree students of Art and Visual Communications. The new art and design works are displayed in the Emergency Department and Concourse, Link Corridor and Consultation Rooms of the hospital. It’s the fourth project undertaken by the art school in association with the hospital in a collaboration which was initiated by the Community Development Department of Tusla Child and Family Agency in Wexford. The exhibition which will continue into 2019, explores a varieties of art processes and techniques and the predominant and recurring themes are mapping, orbits and animals. ‘We searched for lost islands, distant territories, the language of maps, some of us found magical animals hidden in the landscape, discovered strange colours in distant galaxies. We used many processes from woodblock printing, creative writing, drawing, making transfers or the art of frottage, collage and stitching layering, dry point etching prints, we scanned our images and made large digital prints from our scans’, said a spokesperson for the art students. The participating aritsts are Alexandra Walton, Laura O’Brien, Adam E Culleton, Meabh O’Donovan, Alan Davis, Angela Sanina, Hau Fei Chan,Amy Davies, Eimear Murphy, Aaron Heaton, Tania Nogue Sans, Ellen Cloney.
