GAA LOTTO

The next draw for the Monageer-Boolavogue GAA lotto takes place on Tuesday, May 29, at 9.30 p.m. in the New Clubhouse in Monageer.

The four numbers drawn in the last draw on May 15, were, 9, 12, 17, and 19 and as there was no winner, the jackpot for draw on the 29th. has been increased to €4,000. Even though there was no outright winner that night, four supporters, Ann Marie O’Neill, Catherine Rath, Peter Mernagh and Jim Donoho eeach had three of the numbers drawn and shared the €160 match-three prize.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD

The Minister of the Word reading at the Vigil Mass on Saturday, May 26, is Éinín Rossiter with Caroline Farrington helping distribute Holy Communion. James Breen is reading at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning and Kathleen Kehoe is Minister of the Eucharist.

GAA CLOTHING COLLECTION

You can help fund our local GAA and camogie clubs by dropping bags of old clothes in to the FÁS office in Monageer. The bags will be accepted between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each week day.

ANNUAL PATRON

The annual patron will take place in Boolavogue on Sunday, June 24. Depending on the weather, Mass will be celebrated in St Cormac’s cemetery at 3 p.m. or in the adjoining church if rain threatens. It will be followed by a field day with all the usual stalls, entertainm­ents and.

GAA NEWS

On Monday, May 14, the under-15 footballer­s took on Askamore and beat them by 4-16 to 1-6 in Monageer. On the same evening, the Junior ‘B’ hurlers pulled away from Davidstwon in the last minutes of the game to win by 4-16 to 2-19

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

The nine children who made their First Holy Communion on Sunday the 13th. in St Cormac’s church were blessed with briliant sunshine for their big day. Congratula­tions to Niamh, Gráinne, Zac, Chloe, Éanna, Cillian, Seán, Roman and John from all in Boolavogue.

SOCCER NEWS

Congratula­tions to the St Cormac’s men’s ‘A’ team who were crowned div 2a league champions last week afer defeating New Ross Town in the last game of the season. The final score was 7-0 with Seán Roche as ‘man-of-thematch’ The team’s fortunes were guided throughout the season by Daire Turner and Séamus Sweeney.

CHARITY CYCLE

The annual Charity Cycle in aid of Crumlin Children’s Hospital will be leaving Kelly’s Pub, The Harrow for the round trip to Wexford town and back, on Monday, June 4, at 1.30 p.m.

This event has raised over €140,000 for the hospital to date and if you are interested in taking part, please contact Josie Gahan at 087 6642057 for sponsorshi­p cards. This is always a great social event as well as raising funds for a very worthwhile cause.
