COMMUNITY GAMES

Athletics trials for Community Games will take place for under-6, under-8, under-10, under-12, under-14 and under-16s on Tuesday, May 22 (tonight) in Ardattin. Registrati­on at 6 p.m. Races will begin at 6.30. Children must be four years of age before July 31 to compete.

Please note that all children wishing to take part in the trials need to register for their race on the night. If the Community Games registrati­on has not been paid, this can be done so on the night – €4 per child or €10 per family.

The Community Games county finals will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 23, and 24. Please do not attend the trials if you are not going to be available on these dates.

If your child does not qualify in an individual event they should keep coming to athletics training as relay teams will be selected at training. For further informatio­n please contact Deirdre at 087 1171881, Barry 087 9197559 or Martina 087 9960357.

PRIDE OF PLACE

Plans are continuing for Clonegal to represent Carlow in the National Pride of Place. The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 23, at 7 p.m. in St Brigid’s Hall. All groups and housing estates are invited to attend. Everyone is welcome.

CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

Kildavin-Clonegal camogie club continues to go from strength to strength. In the past two weeks we have had a number of our players playing for the county who deserve special mention and praise.

On Sunday, May 6, Aoife Carroll was part of the very gallant Carlow under-16 team who put up a strong fight against Dublin in the Leinster under-16 B championsh­ip Cup Final in Portlaoise. In the end it was not Carlow’s day but Carlow camogie continues to rise. Well done Aoife from everyone in the club.

On Sunday, May 13, Clodagh Hayden, Sarah Sheppard, Sarah Cox and Aisling Byrne were part of the Carlow team which won the Division 3 and Division 5 Leinster under-14 Finals in Portlaoise. Well done to all the girls for representi­ng their club and county so well. We are very proud of them all. First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion will take place in St Brigit’s Church, Clonegal on Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m. and St Lazarian’s Church, Kildavin on Sunday, May 27, at 11.30 a.m.

GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of the Kildavin-Clonegal GAA. Lotto jackpot of €10,000, held on Sunday, May 13. Numbers drawn were 1, 7, 13 and 26. Winners that matched three were; Lilly Byrne, Bunclody, Thomas and Eimear Osborne, lotto ladies and Brian Plunkett, Clonegal, receiving €40 each. The seller’s prize goes to Martin Byrne, receiving €50. The next draw will take place in Os- borne’s Lounge, Clonegal on Sunday, May 27, with a jackpot worth €10,000 and Reserve jackpot of €4,000. CLONEGAL NS

Clonegal National School annual Music Generation Concert will be held on Wednesday, May 30, at 7 p.m. in St Brigid’s Church, Clonegal. The Music Generation initiative provides vocal training for all classes. Every pupil in the school will be involved and it is a showcase of the work they have done with Anita during the year. It will be a wonderful performanc­e. We are asking every family to make a huge effort and sell four tickets at €5 each for the concert. The money raised goes towards paying for Music Generation classes next year. The tickets are numbered. Money and any unsold tickets must be returned to the school by Thursday, May 24, at the latest. Please check your child’s schoolbag for the tickets.

MONDAY CLUB

Come and join us at St Mary’s Day Centre, Ryland Road, Bunclody and brighten up your Monday mornings 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Throughout the year we will have informatio­n sharing, entertainm­ent, arts and crafts, guest speakers and many more topics.

This Club would suit 60+ age group. Entrance Fee: €4 which includes tea and light lunch.
