Cheques for nearly €11k presented to school

-

DAVIDSTOWN Primary School received a major boost recently after cheques totalling nearly €11,000 were handed over to principal Ita Connolly following hugely successful fundraisers.

A cheque for €10,130 was presented by the Davidstown PS Parent’s Association following a hugely successful race night in the Millennium Bar. The event got huge support within the local community and there was a great crowd there on the night cheering their horses over the line.

‘We had a great attendance, but the horses were sold in advance and there was huge support out there,’ said school secretary Margaret Cosgrave. ‘ There was a big push on selling horses before the night and all the hard work from the Parent’s Association paid off. We were absolutely delighted with the money raised and it will go towards the painting of the school.’

That wasn’t where the good fortune ended for the school though. Ms Connolly was also presented with a cheque for €750 - the proceeds of the most recent Davidstown Vintage Run.

The run saw vintage machines come from right across the county and contribute to the cause and the money will now be used to purchase maths and science equipment for the school.

Everyone at the school is extremely grateful to those who put so much hard work into raising funds and they will make a huge difference to the staff and pupils alike.
