Kennedy Park National School will host a 5K Neon fun run on at 10.30 a.m. The school is ensuring that it abides by one of the basic rules of road-running – be safe, be seen – by asking participants to wear neon and the brighter, the better. This year’s Strawberry Fair in Enniscorthy will officially be opened by author Carmel Harrington on the main stage at Market Square at 7 p.m. This will be followed by an introduction to this year’s Strawberry Princesses, dance performances, the winners of the Pub Talent competition and music from Morrissey & Quaid and The Gentlemen Callers as well as roots gigs in local pubs. Day two of the festival in Enniscorthy gets underway from 11 a.m. with stalls, stands and childrens entertainment throughout the day. The Army Band will perform in Market Square from 5 p.m. followed by interviews with the Strawberry Princesses by matchmaker Willie Daly and ‘Blind Date’ at 7.45 p.m. There will be music from The Remedy Club and JMA from 8.15 p.m. as well as plenty of roots gigs. Dublin Blues musician Don Baker will celebrate 50 years on the road this year, and will be joined by his good friends Rob Strong, Hughie O’Neill and Salvatore Urbano, along with several well-known guests along the way. Baker has played all over the world and is highly lauded for his harmonica playing skills. The gig is at 8.30 p.m. in Wexford Arts Centre. COURTOWN BEACH CLEAN

Day 3 of Enniscorthy’s oldest and favourite festival sees another huge range of activities. There will be food stalls dotted around the street, a classic car show in Abbey Square from 2 p.m., kids entertainment including Belle & The Beast in the Castle from 1 p.m. The Garda Band will perform in Market Square at 5.30 p.m. while this year’s Strawberry Queen will be crowned at 8 p.m. Morrissey & Quaid will then get some music going before reggae legend Natty Wailer and his Reggae Vibes take to the stage at 9 p.m. See the festival brochure for a full programme of events. A Corpus Christi procession takes place in New Ross, beginning from the New Haughton Hospital at 2:30 p.m. The procession will make its way to the community hospital; along Hospital Road to the Three Bullet Gate; then to the Youth Centre and to finish at the Mount Carmel Monastery. Stagefright is a collective of local women from all walks of life under the musical direction of Rebecca Warren. The group was established with a view to offering a musical outlet to women who might not otherwise have the opportunity to develop their singing ability. The objective was to take well-known popular songs and arrange acapella versions with layering of harmonies and vocal percussion.
