Sliabh Buidhe Rovers were out in force with over 30 club members taking part in the Run with Ray for 5k on Sunday in Craanford.
Ray and his team ran another very well-organised race, with nearly 200 finishers and plenty of fun had.
Myles Gibbons was a home club winner, running clear of John McGrath of United Striders for the victory.
Paul Gibbons was very close third place, followed by a brilliant run from Pat Curley in fourth, Noel Kennedy in fifth, and Den Moynihan in sixth.
Jim O’Malley was tenth and Niall O’Connor twelfth to put seven of the top twelve from S.B.R.
Ray Byrne topped his race directing skills with a top finish in the Over-50 category.
Brian McLoughlin and Tom Kavanagh added age category wins as well, and there were some great times. Tommy Levingston, Adrian Doyle, Shane Gregan, Ryan Gleeson and Liam Breen all ran very well.
On the women’s side, Ciara Bowe was an age category winner and low finisher for the club with yet another brilliant race.
Emma Morris ran a very strong race as well, as did Orla Furlong in a P.B. and Belinda Kehoe, all with top finishes.
Dawn Dunbar, Tina Morris, Orla Fogarty, Louise Kehoe, Ciara Nolan, Deirdre O’Malley, Linda Avbarra and Mag O’Leary all ran extremely well. Final results are pending, but suffice to say it was a great day all around.
Claire Gibbons was fifth female overall in the Gorey Parkrun in 23:48.
David Leonard was further afield in Newry for their half-marathon and placed 31st of 600+ finishers in 1:25. Well done!
