Congratulations! Top students are given recognition

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

STUDENTS were rewarded for all their hard work throughout the academic year last week as Enniscorthy Vocational College hosted its annual awards day.

The awards aimed to acknowledge the wonderful efforts of both students and staff and to highlight the learning and personal development that is occurring in the classroom, in conjunction with extracurricular activities.

Principal Dr Iain Wickham congratulated all award recipients for their application and dedication over the past year and thanked parents/ guardians, the local community, staff, students and the board of management for their continued support in assisting with the smooth running of the school.

The efforts of Conor Dempsey, Liam Sharkey and Mary Foley were praised for the organisation and management of the event.

Guest speaker Willie Cleary, hurling development administrator with Co. Wexford GAA, spoke of the importance of sport in life for personal well-being and individuals making the right choices in life and learning from their mistakes.

The ceremony concluded with the principal awarding the student of the year to Daniel Leech. During his time in Enniscorthy Vocational College, Daniel had displayed the qualities and attributes that the school highly values. He was courteous, hard-working, eager to learn, a pleasure to teach and highly respected by all in the school community.
