Ellen hoping to help in Uganda

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

LOCAL Naturopathic Nutritionist, Bio-Energy Therapist and Medicinal Chef Ellen Hogan is hosting a special ‘Wellness Workshop’ at The Riverside Park Hotel this Saturday with the goal of helping mothers and children in Uganda.

Ellen herself will make the journey to Uganda on June 30 to help the charity Lámha Suas by helping in the nutritional development of the Safe Motherhood Programme. She aims to help the women of Uganda by showing them how to nutritionally care for themselves during their journey into motherhood. Lámha Suas began the Safe Motherhood Programme in January 2015 with the aim to educate expectant mothers in safe birthing practices and to encourage them to go to the maternity clinic in Madudu, Uganda to have their babies. The programme has been very successful in terms of both maternal and infant mortality rates.

Ellen will be there to educate mothers on what they should be eating while pregnant and breast-feeding and how often, along with some breast-feeding education.

She aims to raise funds for the Lámha Suas Programme before leaving by hosting a Wellness Workshop in The Riverside Park Hotel this Saturday, June 9. It promises to be a fascinating day of talks, activities and delicious healthy food. There will be meditation, Chi Kung, workouts with personal trainers, juicing and nutrition workshops, mental health workshops, mocktails and music from special guests Michael D’Arcy and James O’Sullivan. The event runs from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and tickets are priced at €49 with all proceeds going to Lámha Suas.
