Presentations at the Presentation
THERE were plenty of smiling faces at the Presentation Centre recently as community and voluntary groups from right across the district gathered to collect arts and amenity grants from Enniscorthy Municipal District Council.
Local councillors were present to hand out just under €50,000 to a total of 119 local groups who are doing great work in their own communities. The grant scheme provides small seed funding for a diverse range of community groups from all walks of life including youth, sport, heritage, community, arts, residents and environment to name but a few.
Each of the elected members presented a number of grants to the community groups and highlighted that the grants scheme provides an opportunity for the local authority to publicly recognise and support the voluntary contribution and vibrant community spirit that exists within the District.
Chairman of the Municipal District Cllr Keith Doyle said that ‘exceptional work and effort’ had been put in by ‘individuals and groups in a voluntary capacity’.
He continued by stating how pleased he was that Enniscorthy Municipal District is committed to investing in the social fabric of the district and its people, to ‘ensure that Enniscorthy remains a place where we all want to live’.
Congratulations were extended to all recipients who ranged from sports clubs and playgroups to residents associations and choirs spread right across the length and breadth of the district.
