YOUR Wedding Day is one of the most memorable days of your life and the wedding team at Clayton Whites Hotel are focused on ensuring that it will be a day a happy couple will never forget.
The hotel is an institution in Wexford town and, over the years, generations of the same families have married and enjoyed family celebrations in it. As the team in the hotel says, while the building may have changed, the ethos of dedicated service remains the same.
With a dedicated wedding team in place, the hotel is ideally located in the heart of Wexford town and boasts facilities that can cater for any type of wedding a couple could dream of. The hotel ballroom is extremely versatile and the hotel offers wonderful backdrops for photographs as well as being close to many scenic Wexford locations.
As weddings have now become two and possibly three-day events, Clayton White’s Hotel is an ideal venue as it can offer a number of courtyards for BBQs and chilled out after parties for guests both the day before and after the wedding.
In recent times, the Bridal Suite has been refurbished and now boasts its own balcony and floor to ceiling windows that command a spectacular view over Wexford Harbour – on a fine day, it is possible to see as far as Curracloe.
MEET THE TEAM
The hotel’s General Manager, Joe O’Brien, is a native of Rosslare Strand with over 40 years’ experience in the hotel industry. He started his career in the renowned Kelly’s Strand Hotel in Rosslare. He went on to train in Paddy Fitzpatrick’s Killiney Castle Hotel, an idyllic wedding venue in South County Dublin and managed many four-star hotels in Ireland and the UK including the Slieve Russell Hotel and the Tullamore Court Hotel. All of Joe’s experience is in hotels that prided themselves on wedding receptions, he has looked after many wedding couples over the years and personally greets each wedding couple on arrival. In 2015, Joe returned home to Wexford to take on the General Manager’s role at Clayton White’s Hotel, a hotel that he, like so many people in the county, had a long association with over the years.
Billy Farrell, from New Ross, is a relative newcomer to Clayton White’s having joined the team five months ago. Billy began his career in hotels in Wexford in 1999 and worked as a Conference and Banqueting Manager for many years before moving to Clayton White’s. He has personally dealt with weddings from start to finish, including everything from first contact to site visit, booking and everything after that. Billy says: ‘A great advantage of the hotel is that we are central to everything, with shops that sell necessary and often forgotten items such as belts, ties, tights, flowers and so on nearby. If something is needed, we can pop out and have it back to the guest in 5 minutes.’ He said he loved weddings at Clayton White’s because each event is a new experience with bespoke requirements: ‘No two weddings are the same and I love the variety this brings to my role.’
Wedding Co-ordinator Pauline Mulhall has been working in Clayton White’s since 2015 since her return from Australia. She has worked in the hospitality industry for 15 years and her extensive experience includes hotels, cruise ships and high-end restaurants. Seen as the ‘guiding light’ of the wedding team, Pauline deals with clients from their initial contact right through the whole wedding journey, creating a ‘customer for life’, an aspect that she finds particularly rewarding. ‘We have an amazing venue with so many options for brides and grooms. Our ballroom is so versatile, we can cater for small intimate civil ceremonies to large weddings of 450 people however I think it’s the attention to detail and care with which we look after our wedding couples and their guests that really sets us apart. Receiving a glowing review from a happy couple is the highlight of my day’

Clayton White’s Hotel was named the Top Rated Wedding Venue in Wexford in both 2016 and 2017 by weddingdates.ie. More recently, the hotel won the ‘Wexford Hospitality Provider of the Year Award’ at the Wexford Business Awards 2018.
