Campus students with designs on success
DESIGN STUDENTS in the Wexford Campus of Carlow IT showcased their talents at a major exhibition of work in the college.
The exhibition was held in the Design Studio and the work was based around the Visual Communications and Design course.
The event was opened by Kim McKenzie, President of the Institute of Designers Ireland, who lavished praise on the participants for the variety and quality of their work.
Final year students examined various aspects of design during their four years of study and the resulting exhibits including branding, magazine design, packaging design and an advertising campaign.
Visitors to the exhibition also got an insight into various aspects of web and media design.
The tutors, David O’Callaghan and Patrick Morgan were full of praise for the students.
Mr. O’ Callaghan said the degree exhibition was the result of years of dedication and commitment and represented an amazing achievement for everyone involved.
The Third Year showcase displayed some of the best examples of contemporary design in packaging, branding and way-finding.
The Second Year portfolio display was also a great success and gave students the opportunity to showcase newly-acquired skills.
Being part of an exhibition should prove beneficial to the students in the future as the experience they gained from their involvement this time around will help them prepare for their final exhibitions as their course progresses.
‘ The overall show was a great success and featured some really interesting work and amazing design and concept work in keeping with current trends and styles,’ said Mr. O’Callaghan.
