PUBLIC MEETING

A Save Our Hotel Public Meeting will be held in River’s Edge on Tuesday, June 12, at 8 p.m. The meeting will be informed of the work of the elected committee to date. It is understood that the new owners of the Millrace Hotel have applied for Planning Permission to Wexford County Council to change the use of the hotel to a Nursing Home. Plans for the next steps to be taken will be discussed at the Public Meeting on June 12.

BUNCLODY LIBRARY

June is going to be a busy moth in Bunclody Library. Thursday, June 7, at 7 p.m. – Resources for Local History (Using a Ballycarne­y Case Study) with Barry Lacey – As humans we have a

natural curiosity of the past and what came before. This is especially through on a local level, within the surroundin­gs which we are most familiar. Despite this familiarit­y though which we have for our local area there are always questions which we do not know the answer to. These can range from curiositie­s connected to physical remains such as ruins and monuments to those not touchable such as folklore and legends. This talk given by local Archaeolog­ist Barry Lacey aims to provide people with knowledge of easily accessible resources so that they can discover more about their local history. Both online and literary resources will be included and he will show how he has come to know more about his native Ballycarne­y using these resources. Booking essential.

Tuesday, June 12, at 2 p.m. – Wildlife Gardening with the Irish Wildlife Trust – This talk gives practical advice on how we can all do our bit to protect our native biodiversi­ty with some simple changes to how we garden. We will discuss how to turn your garden into a wildlife friendly habitat as well as which plants provide food and shelter for our wild animals – Booking essential

Thursday, June 14, at 7 p.m. – Biodiversi­ty talk with Jim Hurley – Jim Hurley is a retired school teacher, naturalist and ‘Nature Trail’ columnist with this newspaper. He has a particular interest in nature conservati­on and he relates global conservati­on issues to his local patch on the South Wexford Coast.

THE MONDAY CLUB

The Monday Club meets at St Mary’s Centre, Ryland Road, Bunclody on Mondays. Come and join us and brighten up your Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Throughout the year there will be informatio­n sharing, entertainm­ent, arts and crafts, guest speakers and many more topics.

Entrance Fee is €4 which includes tea or coffee and Light Lunch. This Club will suit the 60+ age group. Transport not provided.
