Wednesday racing at Bettyville track

-

HORSE RACING returns to Bettyville, Wexford, this Wednesday, June 6, for a seven-race National Hunt card, with over €86,000 to be won. The first is off at 5.50 p.m. and the closing chase is at 8.50 p.m.

The previous meeting two weeks ago was run off in balmy conditions and it was a very pleasant night out, with some entertaining racing, though the attendance was small enough.

The later start this time may actually facilitate local supporters as it will be possible for many to go straight to the course from work and get something to eat at the on-track facilities.

Punters should keep an eye on the Wednesday morning papers as it is possible that one of the races may be divided, which would mean starting half an hour earlier.

There will be four hurdle races and three chases on the card; unusually enough, there is no bumper on this occasion.

The card is:

5.50 p.m. - The Welcome To Wexford Racecourse Maiden Hurdle of €11,500, over two miles.

6.20 p.m. - The Boolavogue Mares’ Handicap Hurdle of €11,500 (rated 80-95), over two and a half miles.

6.50 p.m. - The Oulart Handicap Hurdle of €10,500, over two and a half miles.

7.20 p.m. - The Vinegar Hill Hurdle of €13,000, over three miles.

7.50 p.m. - The Carrickbyrne Novice Steeplechase of €15,000, over two and a half miles.

8.20 p.m. - The Rosslare Handicap Steeplechase of €12,500 (rated 0-109), just over three miles and a furlong.

8.50 p.m. - The Bunclody Handicap Steeplechase of €12,500 (rated 0-116), over two and a half miles.
