SWIMMING POOL DRAW

The fifth and final Bunclody Swimming Pool draw for 2018 will be held on this Friday, July 6, subscripti­on € 10 per month contact Sandra at Sandra Murphy at 087 6444261. This is an important fundraiser for our local open air swimming pool and your support will be very much appreciate­d.

BUNCLODY SWIMMING POOL

Bunclody Swimming Pool has opened for the 2018 summer season. Admission fees: summer Family Membership. € 120* ( two adults + max four children under-16. € 20 per child thereafter); summer Single Membership € 60; Pay as you go – Adult € 5 per hour; Pay as you go – Child € 3 per hour.

Swimming Lessons commence Monday, July 2 – please book in advance at the pool.

There will be no lessons during Water Safety Week July 30 to August 3 Lessons are € 25 per child per week payable each Monday for the full week.

PARISH PICNIC

The Bunclody Parish Picnic will take place on Sunday, July 8, at 2 p. m. at Bunclody Soccer Pitch. There will be activities for all ages including Bouncy Castle, Sports Competitio­ns, Bonny Baby and Elegant Granny Competitio­ns. Please contact the parish office for more details. 053 9376190.

BUNCLODY LIBRARY

On Thursday, July 5, at 7 p. m. in Bunclody Library come along and meet Mervyn and Michelle Morrison, Veg Patch, who have taken growing vegetables for their kitchen table to an enterprise in growing vegetables for other people’s kitchen tables. Booking essential.

Saturday, July 7, at 2 p. m.: Come along and enjoy some musical entertainm­ent for all the family with a trad session provided by Helena Dunbar and her fantastic students. Children will play and perform at this musical event. Not to be missed. Booking is essential.

Thursday, July 12, at 7 p. m.: Home Energy saving and Informatio­n and ideas at 7 p. m. – Join Fiona O’Loughlin for an informativ­e evening to help you find out more about reducing your home energy bills. Informatio­n will be given on low cost/no cost ideas for reducing energy consumptio­n, types of heating systems and grants available for Home Energy Improvemen­ts.

Regular Children’s Events Summer Reading Adventure 2018

Our summer Reading Adventure will take place throughout the summer months. Launch will take place on Wednesday, July 4, at 10.30 with a special visit by wonderful children’s author Caroline Busher. Come along and meet Caroline, who will be available talk about reading and will be giving lots of advice on choosing books. Come in and register for the fantastic summer Reading Adventure. BALLAMON BULL FEST

Kilrush-Askamore GAA Club will hold the Ballamon Bull Fest barn dance and barbecue on Saturday, July 7, from 9 p. m. till late. WATER SAFETY WEEK

Water Safety Week at Bunclody Swimming Pool will run from July 30 to August 4 Due to increased numbers pre- registrati­on is required, an online link to book will be posted on our Facebook page beginning of June and there will be forms available from the Pool Manager. Do not delay, once we reach the maximum number of participan­ts we will not be taking any further enquiries and we will not be accepting registrati­ons on the day.

CODING FOR CHILDREN

Bunclody Library has two four- week coding courses for children aged 7+ here in Bunclody Library during July and August. All lessons are based on python and will include coding with turtle and coding and interfacin­g with electronic circuits.

Course 1: Wednesday, July 4, to Wednesday, July 25, from 1.45 p. m. to 2.45 p. m. Course 2: Wednesday, August 1, Wednesday, August 22, from 1.45 to 2.45 p. m.

Coding is a basic literacy in the digital age, and it’s important for kids to understand – and be able to innovate with the technology around them. There’s a high demand for workers in the tech industry; mastering coding at a young age allows kids to excel in any field they choose. Places limited, booking essential at 053 9375466.
