WE WILL ROCK YOU!

THOUSANDS of people are expected on the streets of Enniscorthy for the August bank holiday weekend as the Enniscorthy Rockin’ Food Festival hits full swing once again.

Smiles were served up on Slaney Street last week as the festival had its official launch with celebrity chef Edward Hayden, District Chairman Willie Kavanagh and County Council Chairman Keith Doyle among those in attendance.

The photo shoot saw a huge banquet table stretch up the hill on one of the town’s most historic streets along with the recently reinstalled umbrellas hanging overhead which have yet again proved a hit with locals and tourists alike.

In recent years, the festival has been a fantastic success story for the town, attracting visitors from all over Wexford, Ireland and indeed the world for a weekend of rockin’ fun.

This year’s festival will see over 120 events take place over the course of a packed weekend (August 3-6) with a combination of 60 free events and great value ticketed events.

Among the favourites returning this year is the Artisan Food, Drink and Crafts Market which has been expanded with over 80 vendors taking over the streets in the town centre. There will also be a selection of free outdoor rock n’ roll gigs as well as a wonderful weekend of music in venues right across the town over the whole weekend.

There is also a wonderful range of new events added for this year including a ‘High in the Sky G&T Experience’, a wine and Irish Antipasti Evening, a chocolate truffle making experience and a Norman harvest banquet evening. It’s not all for the adults either.

There will also be a children’s marquee with activities such as pizza making classes, Lego and slime making workshops, kid’s cupcake camp, Pooh and Tigger’s Big Hunny Party and much more.

Organisers were delighted to officially launch the festival last week and are hoping that this year’s will be the biggest yet. A full programme of events and tickets are available at www.rockinfoodfestival.ie.
